Five central banks decide this week, and traders expect most of them to stand still.

The week runs from the Fed decision and Chair Kevin Warsh’s press conference, alongside the Bank of Canada and RBNZ, on Wednesday; to the ECB decision plus US Q3 GDP and September PCE on Thursday; to the Bank of Japan on Friday.

US rates have been at 3.75%-4.00% since September’s hike, and CME FedWatch gave a 90% chance of a hold on Wednesday as of 23 October. December is where the debate lies: futures imply about an 80% chance of a hike then.

The Fed, the Bank of Canada and the RBNZ decide on Wednesday, the ECB on Thursday alongside US GDP and PCE data, and the Bank of Japan on Friday. 83% of economists surveyed expect the BoJ’s next hike in December.
