Oil is pricing in the next round of war.
Oil posted its third straight weekly gain as markets priced in renewed US–Israeli strikes on Iran after the midterms. That adds inflation pressure just before central-bank week.
Brent settled at $116.72 a barrel on Friday, 23 Oct, up 3.1% to a six-month high, while WTI settled at $103.27, up 3.8%.
Brent gained about 6.8% on the week and WTI about 4.2%, a third consecutive weekly advance for both.
US officials told The New York Times that Washington and Israel had plans for another strike on Iran, timed for after the US midterm elections in November.
Houthi attacks on Saudi Arabia have added to fears for regional energy infrastructure. For central banks meeting this week, that is an unwelcome inflation risk.
