SK Hynix just had the kind of quarter memory makers used to dream about.
Q3 revenue was ₩104.62tn and operating profit ₩83.33tn, an 80% operating margin; net profit was ₩39.78tn.
That is roughly $73.2bn in revenue and $58.3bn in operating profit, both 8–9% above consensus. Revenue rose 327.9% YoY and operating profit 632.1%. Both numbers beat consensus by 8–9%.
The company plans about ₩100tn in 2026 shareholder returns: at least ₩30tn in dividends plus at least ₩60tn in buybacks and cancellations, which includes the ₩40tn announced in August. It expects memory demand to outrun supply through 2030, and sees HBM4 overtaking HBM3E as its flagship product this quarter.
Now SK Hynix is passing the windfall to shareholders, with about ₩100 trillion this year in dividends and buybacks. It also says memory demand will outpace supply through 2030. In the AI boom, the scarcest chips are setting the prices.
