OpenAI is seeking to raise nearly $30 billion at a valuation of about $1.4 trillion, using the round as a bridge while it delays its IPO.

That would make it the world's most valuable private AI company again, ahead of Anthropic.

The round is seen as a bridge to an IPO that the company recently pushed back to 2027 at the earliest. OpenAI last closed a record $122 billion round at an $852 billion valuation in March, led by SoftBank, Amazon and Nvidia.

The new price would put it back above Anthropic, which was valued at $965 billion in May and, according to a draft prospectus reviewed by Reuters, is seeking a public valuation above $2 trillion after November's US midterms.

Bloomberg says the talks are at an early stage and terms could change.
