Five central banks decide this week, and the real question is how hawkish they sound.

The Fed, the Bank of Canada and the RBNZ announce on Wednesday, the ECB on Thursday and the Bank of Japan on Friday.

The Fed is expected to hold at 3.75–4.00% after September’s hike, so markets will watch Chair Kevin Warsh for hints of a December move.

Canada is the outlier: markets price an 80% chance of a 25bp hike as energy prices feed inflation.

The ECB is expected to hold at 2.50% and the BoJ at 1.25%, a 31-year high.

With oil above $100, nobody is talking about cuts.
