BMW’s earnings slid on a collapsing China market and rising restructuring costs. Hours earlier, it had warned that those costs would all but wipe out its core car margin this year.
Q3 pre-tax earnings fell about 11% to €2.1B, in line with expectations, while revenue fell about 6% to €30.5B. The automotive EBIT margin dropped to 3.4% from 5.2% a year earlier.
BMW’s China sales fell 24.8% in the quarter as the overall market shrank 24.6%.
The 2026 automotive margin outlook has been cut to near break-even, BMW’s second profit warning in under five months.
